Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. I have always had a passion to help people and become a business owner. Two months prior to my high school graduation and enlisting into the military, I learned that I was going to become a mother. The future that my family and I planned, quickly changed. I was determined not to become a statistic and enrolled in community college while I was pregnant, turning down my acceptance letter to FAMU. Like most college students, I changed career paths and eventually became a Medical Assistant. Unhappily, I settled into that career for over 8 years. In 2018, I finally decided to take a leap of faith and change career paths to pursue Entrepreneurship. I enrolled in Esthetician school full time, while I took a $3 pay cut to work overnights. For five months, I would only have four hours of sleep daily. I also experienced hair loss, my daughter thinking I didn't love her anymore, I went into a state of depression, and my monthly debt-to-income ratio was through the roof! I felt so isolated and alone. However, after being open about what I was going through, I found out that other women have overcame similar barriers for a better life. Not allowing my barriers to hold me back, I started Empowered Essence in 2019 to help minority women clearly walk into their purpose by linking them to like-minded individuals and providing verified educational resources. Helping women in all aspects of business, I have found myself rebranding to help minority youth. My passion continues to put me in room, to give the knowledge out. 2023 will be the REBIRTH of Empowered Essence!
